Who should take this course?

   This course is for Day Care staff and Child Care Providers. Learners will be expected to gain a comprehensive understanding of CPR/AED and First Aid, equipping them with the essential training to respond to emergencies effectively.

   They will also learn about the use of EpiPens and the administration of topical, oral, and injectable medications. For daycare, knowledge of medication administration is crucial, as it is a fundamental requirement for ensuring the safety and-being of children in their care. Furthermore, understanding the methods of medication administration and proper documentation practices is vital to comply with regulations in upholding the highest standards of care.

   This course is CT OEC approved and will arm providers and learners of the knowledge and skills required by the state of Connecticut to fulfill their state requirements for being Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Certified alongside the utilization of other modules, if needed by job or employment requirements.

   This course is designed for anyone involved in childcare who has a duty to respond to emergencies until first responders arrive.

Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED training Course

   This State of CT OEC approved Course covers first aid basics, including managing medical, injury, poison, and environmental emergencies in children approved by Office of Early Childhood Education.

 

   This course covers

 

  • How to recognize life-threatening emergencies

  • Perform high-quality chest compressions

  • Provide ventilations

  • AED use specific to infants and children

  • First aid basics including medical, injury, poison, environmental emergencies 

  • Controlling bleeding and bandaging and tourniquet use

  • shock, internal bleeding, burns and electrical injuries

  • drowning, amputation, allergic reactions, bites and stings

  • dehydration, low or high blood sugar, diabetes, nose bleeds, broken bones and sprains, and shock

Approved by State of Connecticut

   The Office of Early Childhood Education requires childcare, and daycare providers get certified in Pediatric in First Aid, CPR, and AED to maintain their credentials for employment. This course will arm providers with essential skills to respond effectively in emergencies and satisfy the State of Connecticut's OEC requirements.

   This training enhances their confidence and preparedness, so they can provide immediate care to young children in critical situations.       By understanding how to perform CPR and use an AED on infants and children, providers can significantly increase the chances of a positive outcome during emergencies.

    Ultimately this course fosters a safer environment for children, giving parents peace of mind knowing their caregivers are well-prepared.

Certificate and Certification Upon successful completion of course

   Upon successfully completing the course, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion and Certification, valid for two years.        This certification will be sent to your email for download within 48 hours following the course. Please ensure that your email, name, and address are legible and accurate to guarantee that you receive your eCertificate without any issues.

Pediatric Course Length

   The AHA Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course is 6 hours long, not including the CPR/AED component. The full training including CPR/AED is 8 hours long. These course lengths don't include optional topics or breaks.

   This course focuses on pediatric first aid, including recognition and care of various emergencies. Certificates are valid for 2 years upon successful completion of program, as noted above.
